From Meeniyan, the Great Southern Rail Trail leads you through the lush Black Spur, with historic railway bridges, cool fern gullies and some of the most scenic forest sections on the trail.

In Koonwarra, enjoy a relaxed café stop before continuing through peaceful bushland and gentle winding paths.

As you near Leongatha, the landscape opens into classic South Gippsland farmland — rolling fields, grazing cattle, hay sheds and quiet dams. A steady final climb brings you into Leongatha, the largest town on the Great Southern Rail Trail, offering plenty of gourmet cafés and lunch options.

Pick up fresh rolls or cakes and enjoy a picnic at one of the many stunning viewpoints along the trail before returning to Meeniyan.
